WESTPORT — The Board of Education met with top police brass Thursday evening to discuss security matters.
The board voted to go into executive session, meaning the meeting was closed to the public, shortly after the meeting began at 6 p.m. in Town Hall.
Security is one of just a handful of reasons a public agency can justify going into executive session.
Police Chief Foti Koskinas and other top police officials, as well as most of the Board of Education members, were present.
Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice told the Westport Journal after the vote to go into executive session that someone had requested a review of security in May, and the meeting was called to do that. He said there had been no incident that prompted the meeting.
The new school year begins Tuesday in Westport’s public schools.
