WESTPORT — The Westport Library’s fall book sale, with thousands of books from paperbacks to rare and vintage collector’s texts, plus CDs and DVDs, gets underway later this week.

The sale runs from Friday, Nov. 11, through Monday, Nov. 14, at the library, 20 Jesup Road.

The schedule is:

Friday, Nov. 11, 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m.: Early access to the sale for those who purchase $35 tickets. Click here to register.

Friday, Nov. 11, 1-6 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 13: 1-5 p.m.: all items on sale for half price.

Monday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: fill a library “logo bag” for $8, a personal bag of equal size for $5 or buy individual books at half-price.

Highlights of the book sale, as noted in library publicity for the event, include.

  • A new “Fiction for $1 Room,” featuring for $1 each hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction and fantasy books, young adult fiction, and paperback novels.
  • “Signed” gold-colored stickers on texts signed by the authors, including a first edition of “You’re Only Old Once,” inscribed and signed by Dr. Seuss.
  • A collection of holiday-themed books.
  • A wide range of CDs and DVDs.
  • A large assortment of cookbooks.
  • Vintage book sets in leather bindings, as well as antiquarian volumes and a large collection of books about American and world history.
  • Books donated from the personal library of Westport resident Joseph Califano, a former U.S. secretary of health, education and welfare in the Carter administration.
