WESTPORT — The Westport Library was all about volumes Saturday morning, but not books.

As a rambunctious crowd filled the library to kick off the third day of VersoFest 2025, the goal was simply — and uncharacteristically — to turn the place into “The Loudest Library in History.”

While that might be a low bar for a stereotypically quiet place, the event proved that people love to flout protocols in these historically hushed institutions.

A 5iveFingaz mural set the theme for the event, with the tag, “Take the time to tell someone you love them … ”

Norwalk-based installation artist 5iveFingaz, noted for his “Love More Than Ever” art, emceed the raucous event, heralding the slate of VersoFest’s weekend programs.

He brought along eight DJs who rocked the gig and whipped party-goers — from grandparents to toddlers — into a scene typical of almost any place that’s not a library.

Noise makers and collective screams punctuated the spinning tracks, which spanned a spectrum of artists, from Men at Work to Taylor Swift.

5iveFingaz encouraged attendees to “tag the wall,” a cooler way of saying, “Help decorate a mural in the lobby” that he designed in homage to love and positivity.

Its theme: “Take the time to tell someone you love them / your very being is made out of pure love with every decision / choose to radiate love”

The mural, said Melanie Myers, the library chief of staff, is “a brilliant idea!”

Did this celebration register a decibel-busting record? The sound level meter onstage hit “level 5” several times, indicating “Screaming and Yelling: Emergencies Only” — clearly signifying the event was a roaring success.
