WESTPORT — Prescription drugs will be collected by Westport police Oct. 26 in conjunction with the “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day,” sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
The local collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave. There is no charge, and no questions will be asked.
Prescription drugs such as tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of medication will be accepted. The program is designed to prevent potentially dangerous or addictive medicine from falling into the wrong hands, according to program organizers.
Items that will not be accepted include syringes, sharps and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in the original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
