WESTPORT — The annual “Bloomin’ Metric” bicycle touring event, sponsored by Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club, will hit local streets Sunday.

The event, with self-paced routes of 15, 25, 47 and 62 miles, gets underway with the start of registration at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 18, at Sherwood Island State Park. It will take place rain or shine.

In a traffic alert, police warn drivers and residents living along the cycling routes to expect “a significant number” of bicyclists throughout town from about 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
