First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker and Police Chief Foti Koskinas joined officials of Lyman, Ukraine, surveying damage caused by Russian bombing during their tour of Westport’s sister city in May.

Tooker and Koskinas, joined by Easton First Selectman David Bindelglass, in May toured Lyman, Westport’s sister city, and  Sviatohirsk, Easton’s sister city, in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, an area attacked by Russian forces last year.

The visit was facilitated by Ukraine Aid International, founded by Westport natives and brothers Brian and Marshall Mayer

UAI, which promoted the sister city relationships between Westport, Easton and and other American communities with Ukrainian counterparts, has organized donations of humanitarian aid and supplies to Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
