WESTPORT — Replacement of a Saugatuck water main, a project expected to last several months, is scheduled to start Monday, April 7, on Riverside Avenue, according to Aquarion water company.
The project to replace about 5,400 feet of water main, which will continue to Charles Street, should be completed by fall, the water company said.
Traffic delays, as well as possible detours, may take place during the construction period from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Once installation of the new main is finished, the streets will be paved in coordination with the town and state, Aquarion said.
The project is designed to “improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions,” according to the company’s announcement.
