WESTPORT — As a growing number of people get a charge from riding e-bikes, the rules of the road governing their use are evolving.
To keep the public updated, the Police Department plans a community forum on e-bikes at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave. There is no fee or need to register.
Police representatives will be on hand to provide general information about e-bikes and how traffic laws apply to riders, as well as to answer questions and gather feedback.
“As e-bikes become increasingly popular for recreation and transportation, we want to ensure our community understands the laws and best practices for using them safely,” Police Chief Foti Koskinas said in a statement announcing the forum. “This forum is a chance for open dialogue and proactive education.”
