The Malloy Lecture in the Arts, made possible by a bequest by the late Westport artist Susan Malloy, was created at the library in 2002. It provides an annual forum for “an individual who has had a significant cultural influence and whose work has enhanced the understanding and appreciation of the arts,” the library says.

O’Hara has performed in numerous stage, screen and television productions, earning a 2015 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance in the revival of “The King and I” at the Lincoln Center Theater.

Since her Broadway debut in “Jekyll & Hyde,” O’Hara over two decades has won critical accolades and award nominations for a range of performances.

Most recently, O’Hara was accorded her seventh Tony nomination, as well as Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominations, for her performance in the title role in the revival of “Kiss Me Kate” at the Roundabout Theater.

She also was given the Drama League’s 2019 Achievement in Musical Theatre Award.

Sher, joining O’Hara for the program, is the resident director of the Lincoln Center Theater. He also has been the director of productions on Broadway and elsewhere, including the recent “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
