WESTPORT — With the town’s Memorial Day parade set for Monday morning, roads in the downtown area will be closed to traffic.

The parade will step off at 9 a.m.

The line of march starts near Saugatuck Elementary School on Riverside Avenue, heading north. The procession will turn right onto Post Road West and cross the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge, turning left on Myrtle Avenue, past a reviewing stand in front of Town Hall. The parade then turns left onto Main Street and ends at Parker Harding Plaza.

Road closures will be in effect from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, police said.

The following roads will be affected:

Riverside Avenue, between Treadwell Avenue and Post Road West.

Post Road West/East, between Sylvan Road and Compo Road.

Wilton Road, between King’s Highway North and Post Road West.

Myrtle Avenue, between Post Road East and Main Street.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area throughout the duration of the parade and ceremony following the parade on Veterans Green.
