WESTPORT–Westport Journal today announced the debut of the Southern Connecticut Social Calendar.
The Southern Connecticut Social Calendar is set to become the preeminent source for cultural event listings in southern Fairfield and New Haven Counties.
The link to the calendar appears on the menu bar above.
“We’ve invited the top 50 southeast Connecticut cultural institutions to contribute listings,” said Doug Weber, the Publisher of Westport Journal and founder of Southern Connecticut Social Calendar.
“Most of our readers are border-blind. They enjoy cultural events happening all over Fairfield and New Haven Counties.”
Music venues (e.g., Toads Place, The Levitt, Norwalk Symphony Orchestra), performance spaces (Ridgefield Playhouse, Westport Country Playhouse, Yale Rep), museums (The Bruce Museum, The Yale Center for British Art, MoCA CT), cinemas (Avon Theatre Film Center, Madison Art Cinemas) and more have been invited to participate.
“We have a vast array of culture right here in our backyard,” Weber said. “We call it the “social” calendar because all the events on the calendar are live events to be enjoyed socially, with other people. We don’t cover book releases–but we will list book readings. We don’t list television shows, but we do list cinematic events.”
One early adopter is The Westport Library’s EJ Crawford: “At the Library, we’re always looking for ways to promote our many events and offerings to Westport residents and beyond. The Southern Connecticut Social Calendar is a great way to do just that. For the user, it’s easy to navigate and helpfully curates so much information in one place. And as a town asset, we’re able to load our events to the calendar with just a couple of keystrokes and right away they’re accessible to a wide audience. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
The Southern Connecticut Social Calendar logo was designed by Westport artist Miggs Burroughs. He adapted the Westport Journal logo, which he also designed.
