WESTPORT — Skies over Compo Beach will crackle as bombs burst mid-air and rockets discharge red glare Wednesday, July 2, for the town’s annual fireworks salute to Independence Day.

Tickets for the popular holiday attraction, organized by the Westport Police Athletic League and Parks and Recreation Department, go on sale May 26 at Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road, and the Parks and Recreation Office, 260 Compo Road South in Longshore Club Park.

Ticket price is $75 per vehicle, payable by cash or check to Westport PAL.

“This is our organization’s largest fundraising event, and we appreciate the community’s continued support,” police Cpl. Craig Bergamo, the Westport PAL president, said in a statement announcing the fireworks show. It is sponsored by Melissa and Doug Bernstein, founders of Melissa & Doug toys.
