WESTPORT — Illustrations by Leonor Dao Turut are featured in the monthly guest artist exhibit at the Westport Book Shop.

Six illustrations by Turut are showcased through November at the book shop, 23 Jesup Road, during regular business hours.

The artwork, made with acrylics on Bristol board, was started by the Westport artist during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic and completed a few months ago.

In each piece, Turut “tried to capture emotions and moods that she experienced during those trying times, as a way to leave for herself a proof of the feelings of the moment,” according to the announcement of the exhibit.

Turut, a painter, sculptor and illustrator, draws inspiration from her native Venezuela. Her work features strong colors, imaginative motifs and symbolism.

She is a member of the Artists Collective of Westport, and is an art instructor for CLASP Homes and Star Inc. Lighting the Way.
