WESTPORT — With thousands of volumes on offer, the “Big Fall Book Sale” at the Westport Library, from Dec. 1-4, has you covered — from hardcovers to paperbacks, with vinyl (records) and plastic (CDs) thrown in for good measure.

The sale, featuring books in more than 50 categories for readers of all ages, will take place:

Friday, Dec. 1, noon to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. — most merchandise sold at half price.

Monday, Dec. 4, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. — Westport Library logo bags of books at $10 or shoppers’ own equivalent bags for $8. Remaining inventory also can be purchased at half price.

Early-access shoppers can enter the sales event before the regular hours — 8:55 a.m. to noon Dec. 1 — by purchasing tickets, which can by reserved in advance by clicking here.

The sale will feature a wide range of gently used fiction and non-fiction books, vintage children’s and antiquarian books, vinyl records, music CDs, movie and television DVDs, as well as a limited selection of ephemera and artwork, according to the event organizers.

Special features will include:

• A collection of books by 18th-century writer and poet Samuel Johnson, including a set of his complete works, and books by his biographer, James Boswell.

• A large number of books examining climate change and environmental sciences.

• Books about chess strategies and players spanning the past century.

• A large assortment of jigsaw puzzles.

• Collections about diverse fields of interest, such as ballet, knitting and needle crafts, and role-playing games.

• “Fiction for $1 Room,” a conference room filled with hardcover fiction, mysteries, science fiction and fantasy books, young adult fiction and paperbacks, all on sale for $1 each. (Books in this room will remain priced at $1 each during half-price day on Sunday.)
