WESTPORT — A day before Super Bowl LIX, an event when millions of Americans traditionally gather to celebrate with food and drink, a collection is planned to support Westporters who may lack even basic food resources.
The food drive, organized by the Police Department, Westport Sunrise Rotary and Stop & Shop supermarket, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the store, 1790 Post Road East.
All donations will directly benefit Homes with Hope’s Gillespie Center food pantry and the Westport Woman’s Club food closet, managed in collaboration with the town’s Department of Human Services.
Organizers of the drive hope to collect a range non-perishable foods as well as personal care items. Food in glass jars cannot be accepted.
