FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Museum and History Center is hosting a special talk this weekend, examining how American ideals are presented in the popular musicals 1776 and Hamilton.

From Liberty to Legacy: Examining American Ideals in the Musicals 1776 and Hamilton will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18th. The walk will compare how each work portrays the Revolutionary War era, explore how changing historical contexts affect how the story of the United States’ founding is told, and discuss how the musical itself reflects the American culture at the time it debuted.

The talk is being presented by Michael Langlois, an actor, director, lecturer, and storyteller. Langlois has worked with numerous theaters across New England and was an associate artist with Flock Theatre in New London for more than a decade.

The event is part of the Fairfield Museum and History Center’s Fall Speaker Series, which this year focuses on the 250th anniversary of the United States. For tickets and more information, click here.
