WESTPORT — The transfer station will be closed again Wednesday to give additional time to replacement of garage doors, according to Peter Ratkiewich, director of the Department of Public Works.

“They ran into some difficulty with the installation so they need another day,” he said Monday.

For a third Wednesday in a row the transfer station will be closed to the public, but commercial vehicles will still be allowed in to dump.

“We are replacing the garage doors on the transfer station and it is too dangerous to have the public dumping when we are working there,” Ratkiewich said.

Workers were onsite Monday, however, doing some apparent preparation work.
