WESTPORT–Now that the holidays are over, what do you do with your Christmas tree – especially when it begins shedding needles?
Westport Scout Troops 39 and 139 have got you covered.
For the 16th year the Scouts will collect trees to be chopped into wood chips and donated to the Town of Westport. They’ll pick up the trees from driveways on Jan. 10, 2026. Make a reservation at www.westportscouts.org/trees. The deadline to sign up for the collection is Jan. 4, but the troops expect the spots to fill up.
There is a suggested donation of $25.
Once you register, be sure that the tree is at the end of the drive or by your mailbox and easy to reach by 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 10. Also be sure to remove all lights and ornaments first. The Scouts cannot accept wreaths or garlands because the wires damage the woodchipper.
