WESTPORT — The annual “Holiday Giving Program,” which provides seasonal support for local families in need, has been launched by the town’s Department of Human Services.
All donations directly support the program, which is expected to help support 80 Westport households this holiday season, DHS officials said.
Cash, checks or gift cards are accepted, which the department distributes to families so they can shop for essentials and gifts during the season.
“We’re seeing more and more families in need. Many parents are dealing with unemployment, underemployment, rising costs and the stress of trying to provide for their loved ones,” Annette D’Augelli, the department’s youth and family specialist, said in a statement announcing the fundraising campaign.
“Lately, many working families are finding it tough to make ends meet. With multiple jobs and tight budgets, little is often left over for gifts or new clothes,” she added.
Donations to the Holiday Giving Program can be made online by clicking the “Family to Family” button here. Or they can be mailed to: Westport Department of Human Services, Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave., Westport, CT 06880.
Families who need support can contact the Department of Human Services for free, confidential consultation and assistance. Call 203-341-1050 or email humansrv@westportct.gov.
