The Cribari Bridge decked out in its holiday finery.

WESTPORT — The historic Cribari Bridge in Saugatuck will shine for the holidays, as lights outlining the iconic structure are switched on Friday in partnership with a local charity’s fundraiser.

The span over the Saugatuck River once again will be festooned with lights for the season of good cheer, as the nearby Saugatuck Rowing Club hosts a holiday gathering to benefit Al’s Angels, the Westport-based nonprofit that raises money to help area families and children in need of medical, disaster and food assistance.

The “Bridge Lighting and Toy Drive” event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the Saugatuck Rowing Club, 521 Riverside Ave. It is open to the public.

Admission is $10 for children, $20 for adults, plus an unwrapped toy, to benefit the holiday toy drive organized by Al’s Angels.

Santa will be on hand to greet attendees, who can enjoy cocoa, pop corn, hot dogs and “more,” according to event organizers.

Holiday lights twinkling from the trusses of the 137-year-old swing bridge, of course, will provide a memorable backdrop for the festivities.
