WESTPORT — Help bring a little joy to a child in need this season by donating to the “Holiday Toy Drive” organized by the Westport Police Department Union and Westport Police Benevolent Association.

The groups’ annual holiday project will collect toys to be distributed to children around Fairfield County and at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.

“We again ask for the community’s continued support and generosity to help make this year’s drive a success,” organizers said in announcing the toy collection. “By donating, you are guaranteed to bring holiday joy to so many deserving children.”

The toy collection is planned this weekend and next.

Weather permitting, Westport police officers will accept new, unopened and unwrapped toys, as well as cash donations, in the parking lot of ASF Sports & Outdoors, 1560 Post Road East, on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 4-5, and Dec. 11-12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There also will be collection boxes to drop off donations through Dec. 13 in the lobby of Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road, as well as Toyota of Westport, 777 Post Road East.
