FAIRFIELD — The Connecticut Audubon Society is again offering its fall naturalist training program, helping people to become leaders in environmental education and conservation efforts in their communities.

The Naturalist Training Program runs on Wednesdays between Sept. 9th and Nov. 4th. The program includes a mix of classroom training and field work in various Connecticut Audubon locations, including the Fairfield Nature Center, the Birdcraft Museum and Sanctuary in Fairfield, and the Coastal Center at Milford Point.

Topics covered by the program include birds, insects, mammals, bird banding, marine ecosystems, habitats and plant identification, foraging and wild edibles. Upon completing the program, participants are expected to contribute at least 10 volunteer hours to initiatives that support the Connecticut Audubon Society’s work and activities.
