WESTPORT — Every dog has its day, and that day in Westport will be Oct 10.

It’s the fifth Westport Dog Festival, a day to celebrate canines of all kinds, from mutts to pedigreed, and every sort of Fido in between.

The event, sponsored by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Winslow Park.

Admission is $10 per person or $25 for a family of four. Parking will be available in designated areas, with signs posted along the Post Road.

More than 1,000 dogs, and thousands more of their human admirers, are expected to attend the festival, according to organizers.

For dogs, competitions, demonstrations and licensing will be featured.

For humans, there will be food trucks, vendors and face painting.

The schedule of canine competitions includes:

10:30 a.m., Best Tail Wagger
