WESTPORT — It’s fall. The leaves are coming down.
Here’s how to deal with it:
- The town’s annual curbside collection of leaves starts Monday, Nov. 6. Click here for details.
- Residents with a valid sticker can drop off leaves and yard waste at the Department of Public Works yard waste site at 180 Bayberry Lane, behind the Aspetuck Health District offices. The facility’s Saturday hours are extended through the start of December. Click here for details.
- Gas-powered leaf blowers can be used for yard cleanups through next May 15, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., under the town’s recently adopted ordinance regulating leaf blowers. Click here for details.
- Composting is another option. Collect leaves, within a fenced area or a composting receptacle, which must be located at least 20 feet away from any wetland or watercourse, according to local regulations. To learn more about composting, click here or here.
How not to deal with it:
- Town regulations prohibit dumping leaves and debris in a wetland or watercourse. Click here and here for details.
