WESTPORT — Local roads are expected to be congested Saturday — with hundreds of bicyclists — as several routes of the Fairfield-based CT Challenge Charity Bike Ride pass through town.

Westport roads, primarily on the eastern side of town, are sections of several routes mapped for the fundraiser, which attracts hundreds of bicyclists.

Westport police said the routes for shorter rides will enter town in the area of Beachside Avenue, while longer routes enter town on Long Lots Road.

There are staggered starting times for different routes of the charity fundraiser, but police said the heaviest bicycle traffic on Westport roads is expected to be fro 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
