WESTPORT — A sun-splashed start is forecast Saturday for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and the Parks and Recreation Department plans a seasonal celebration for Westporters at Compo Beach.

The “Kickoff to Summer” event is planned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the beach.

Features, in addition to what is forecast to be a sparkling day at the waterfront park, include food vendors, “Touch-a-Truck” vehicles from the town’s police, fire, public works and EMS departments, activities ranging from face painting to obstacle courses, and a raffle.
