The victim of a May 23 auto accident on Saugatuck Avenue, he attended Staples High School and was the executive chef at the Field Club in Greenwich at the time of his death. His culinary career started at Viva Zapata in Westport; he was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and worked at well-known restaurants in this area and New York.

Born and raised in the Saugatuck neighborhood, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and spent many years as physical educator, coach and athletic director in Wilton, which paid tribute to him with the Nicholas T. Zeoli Fieldhouse.
