Following is the obituary for Dr. JOHN J. WILLIAMS, submitted for the family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Dr. John J. Williams died peacefully on Feb. 9, 2023.

Born in Brooklyn, he attended St. Francis Prep, St. Peter’s College, Georgetown Medical School and Fordham Law School.  

John was a decorated combat veteran and served in Vietnam as a surgeon.  

Following the Army, he continued to train as a urologist and was on the faculty at Cornell. He was also a member of the Connecticut Bar. John and his family split their time between New York City and Westport.

He was an interesting and complex man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He will be very missed.  

He is survived by his children, John (Chie), Paul (Leslie), and Valerie (Gary), and grandchildren, Owen, Sachi, Charlie, Harry, Luke and Johnny. He is also survived by his brother, Robert, and sister, Kathy Dalton. 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean, and parents, John and Catherine.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Harding Funeral home, 210 Post Road East. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in Westport.
