WESTPORT–U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal visited the Westport Farmers Market (WFM) yesterday and met with local farmers, vendors, and shoppers to discuss the importance of ensuring Connecticut families can access fresh, locally grown food.
Alongside First Selectman Kevin Christie, Blumenthal also congratulated WFM’s Executive Director Lori Cochran Dougall on the market’s 20 years in business. Blumenthal awarded WFM with a “Certificate of Special Recognition” for “20 years of increasing awareness, knowledge & support for local farmers and food producers.”

Cochran said after receiving the award, “Hearing the Senator announce this honor from the U.S. Senate was a milestone I will not forget, it validates our hard work. To be recognized at this level is incredibly energizing, and bodes even greater commitment for our mission and this community.”
The Westport Farmers Market, at 50 Imperial Ave., remains open Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., through Nov. 5.
