WESTPORT — With final agreement on the renovation project for the Inn at Longshore, operators of the inn and La Plage restaurant have announced closures scheduled for both facilities.

The 134-year-old inn, acquired by the town when it purchased the Longshore Park property in 1960, will be closed in January through March 2025, but will reopen from April through October 2025, according to the announcement from Greenwich Hospitality Group, whose Longshore Hospitality subsidiary holds a 30-year lease on the property.

The inn managers are currently accepting bookings for weddings and events during the period when the inn is open next year, according to the announcement.

La Plage restaurant, based at the inn, also will be closed from January through spring 2025 for “seasonal maintenance,” the management group said.

The hospitality group plans to invest about $8 million in the renovation project as part of a 30-year lease with the town, approved in March 2023.

The original renovation plans have undergone several revisions since town boards began reviewing the proposal earlier this year.

Most recently, the management group agreed to include an elevator in the building to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. An elevator, part of the plan initially approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission, had subsequently been removed by the group as a cost-saving measure. It was restored to the project at the insistence of P&Z members.

“The Inn at Longshore is a beloved treasure in Westport, and we are dedicated to preserving its historic charm while modernizing its facilities to meet the needs of today’s guests,” Charles Mallory, founder and CEO of Greenwich Hospitality Group, said this week in the statement announcing the closures.
