
WESTPORT — The author and illustrator of a hometown tale about a dog named Bradford will appear Saturday at the Westport Book Shop.
Author Denis O’Neill and illustrator Cyrus Quadland, collaborators on “Bradford’s Walk,” a new children’s book set in Westport, will visit the store at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. The book shop is located at 23 Jesup Road.
O’Neill and Quadland will read from “Bradford’s Wall,” which “not only celebrates the adventures of a dog, but also the beauty of our town,” according to a publicity release. They also will sign copies of the book.
O’Neill, a Westport native and longtime resident, in addition to writing several other books, has experience as a writer and producer for film, including The River Wild” (1994) and “A Shot at Glory” (2001). He also has been a writer and producer for various programs at WGBH television in Boston, including the “Frontline” documentary series.
Quadland, a resident of Beacon, N.Y., studied at the Art Students League in New York. A veteran of the Vietnam war, where he was awarded a Bronze Star, Quadland’s art work was in a touring show of military-service veterans’ art, exhibited at the Library of Congress and Arlington National Cemetery.
The men met as students at St. George’s School in Newport, R.I., Class of 1966.
