WESTPORT–A gem of a little shop opened on Friday at 375 Post Road West. And that’s what it’s called – Lille Shoppe – full of items for the home from all over the world.

“Thoughtfully sourced goods from beautiful places,” is what it says on the Shoppe’s front window – and the beautiful and interesting objects for the home all over the small store back up the window’s message. It’s the second shop for Abby Mattern, who opened her first Lille Shoppe in Guilford in 2024, combining her passion for traveling with her love of what she calls “homewares.”

After graduating from college, she worked in marketing, but eventually wanted to get out from behind a desk, she said. So she began looking for items, many from far off places, to sell in her shop. “I wanted unique and different things that you don’t see everywhere,” she said.

Some of the pieces she uses to display the items she also acquired on her journeys, including a marble-topped table and a pine chest from England. She sells pottery jars from Turkey, brass pepper grinders from Greece, knit socks made in Japan, and Danish hand-blown glass vases, among many, many other objects in the shop. She also has blankets made in one of the oldest woolen mills in England.

For the kitchen, she sells handmade cream pots and baguette molds from France, and decanters for olive oil from Puglia, Italy. But she hasn’t forgotten the U.S. either, with candles that are hand rolled in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Mattern especially appreciates the artistic value of the items she chooses to sell, she said, pointing to some objects for the home from Denmark “where they integrate home goods into their design.”

She welcomes anyone who wants to take a journey into other places all over the world, to take a trip to her shop.

The Lille Shoppe website offers “New Arrivals … the latest additions to our collections,” as well as several hundred other items online which can be shipped or ordered for store pickup.
