WESTPORT — A prominent alternative rock artist and a Congolese dance and drum group have joined the schedule of events at the Westport Library’s upcoming VersoFest.

Cumbe Dance will appear at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28th at the library’s Trefz Forum. David J will visit the same venue later in the day, with an event scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Master Artist Andoche Loubaki will lead Cumbe Dance, a Brooklyn-based cultural organization whose programming focuses on African dance and education, in a lively workshop featuring Congolese dance and drum music. The event is free, but registration is encouraged.

David J., who led the successful post-punk alternative rock bands Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, will read selections from his new poetry book, Rhapsody, Threnody & Prayer. This event will be followed by an interview with author Douglas Rushkoff and a short set of acoustic songs. Tickets to the event are $35 each, and only 450 seats are available.
