WESTPORT — An annual showcase of “short” films, both narrative and documentary presentations, will be presented in programs over the next three months at the Westport Library.

The “Short Cuts” film festival, produced by Nancy Diamond, starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, with the screening of five films in the Trefz Forum of the library, 20 Jesup Road.

Additional screenings are planned Nov. 17 featuring documentaries (click here for tickets) and Dec. 8 for narrative shorts (click for tickets).

Many of the films booked for the three “Short Cuts” programs are award winners previously shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

“Tribeca screens roughly 3,000 international short films each year and chooses about 90 for its festival,” Diamond said in a publicity release for the event. “We preview most of them, and then chose 12 to 15 films for Short Cuts. We like to say, ‘We choose the best of the best.’ ”
