WESTPORT — Jazz enthusiasts got a treat Friday night at MoCA Westport when Samara Joy and the Pasquale Grasso Trio brought their sound to the grounds for a special concert.

Part of the nonprofit’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Spotlight, Joy and the Trio performed some classic cool sounds outdoors.

“It’s my first time here, so I’m really excited,” said Joy, who was likewise touched by the gallery collection of fine art at the venue.

A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Joy won the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition.

She is currently recording her debut album alongside the New York-based Pasquale Grasso Trio, which includes Grasso on guitar, Paul Sikivie on bass, Philip Stewart on drums.
