WESTPORT–Sometimes it feels like all stories, except one, grow up.
On July 18, the Westport Country Playhouse invites families for a reading of a play based on that never-aging tale, “Peter Pan.” The play, adapted from J.M. Barrie’s novel by Brian Freehan, will be read in the Playhouse’s junior version of its Script in Hand series.
The show starts at 2 p.m.
“A family-friendly event, this timeless story of imagination, bravery, and the wonder of never growing up will whisk the audience to Neverland alongside Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell, and the infamous Captain Hook,” the Playhouse said in an announcement.
Script in Hand Jr. is intended to build on the success of the venue’s Script in Hand series of play readings, presenting shows without elaborate sets or costumes.
The cast of “Peter Pan” includes young actors from local middle and high schools: Westporters Colin Chudd and Gemma Wiener are joined by Alice DiMenna, Audrey Cook, Jayden Santos, Bridget Brennan, Cathy O’Toole, Jack Fibiger, Jasper Leven, Joey Vazquez, Lua Gaspar, Maël Chevrier, and Ryan Duffy.
The show is directed by actress, singer, songwriter Stacie Morgain Lewis.
