NORWALK — Several musical groups will come together this weekend as the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra welcomes families and guests back to its Music for All Ages Concert.
The concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 22nd, at Norwalk Concert Hall. The program features Hector Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, described as “one of the wildest and most revolutionary works ever written for orchestra.” Inspired by Berlioz’ unrequited love for a beautiful actress, the music carries audiences to “places the symphony has never gone before, including a sumptuous ball, a witches’ sabbath, and even his own march to the scaffold.”
In addition to the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, performers will include the Norwalk Youth Symphony Principal Orchestra and Harry Ato, winning of this year’s Concerto Competition, who will perform his winning piece — Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, Mvt. 1 — with the full orchestra. In addition, the Norwalk Gamers’ Orchestra will perform in the lobby prior to the concert from 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Tickets are $50 for adults and free for those under the age of 18. Visitors are invited to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to The Pantry at CT State Community College Norwalk.
