WESTPORT — “Summer Crush,” an exhibition of coastal-themed artwork, will open June 15 at Sorelle Gallery.

The exhibit opening, which will include a presentation by several of the featured artists, will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the gallery, 19 Church Lane. It will be on display through July 6. Refreshments will be served at the opening reception.

On exhibit will be original work by painters who “draw inspiration from water and the coast in a wide variety of styles, from abstract to hyper-realistic,” according to publicity for the exhibit.

The artists include: S. Cora Aldo, Laura Browning, John Harris, Julia Contacessi, Kay Flierl, Teodora Guererra, Tony Iadicicco, Michele Poirier-Mozzone, Kelly Rossetti, Dan Pollera and Nealy Hauschildt.

At 2:30 p.m., four of the participating artists — Contacessi, Rossetti, Hauschildt and Iadicicco — will discuss their work and answer questions.

“This is an opportunity to see the subject, in this case, the coast, through varying lenses,” Sandra Pelletier, the gallery owner, said in a statement announcing the exhibit.

“While one artist may capture a seascape with energetic strokes from water to sky, another zeroes in on the way sunlight hits water as it ripples; while one is drawn to the texture of sand, another fixates on the way it looks as it’s enveloped by a wave,” Pelletier added.
