Olana is Church’s historic home in Hudson, N.Y., overlooking the Hudson River.

Church was a world-famous 19th century landscape painter born in Hartford. He was one of the best known artists of the Hudson River School, and he traveled the world to paint what he saw.

The talk at 2 p.m. May 21 is not at the mansion, but next door at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children’s Multimedia Gallery, 303 West Ave.

The talk will be led by Sean Sawyer, president of the Olana Partnership, which works to preserve and interpret the state and national historic landmark.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Sawyer share his inspiration on the preservation of a National Historic Landmark and bring the beauty and wonder of the Hudson River Valley to Norwalk,” said LMMM Trustee and Lectures Committee Chair Kathy Olsen.

To reserve tickets, visit the Events page on the Museum’s website. Admission is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Light refreshments will be offered following the presentation as well as a special drawing for a complimentary tour of Olana at noon June 24.
