WESTPORT — The “Candlelight Concert,” a Staples High School holiday tradition marking its 83rd year, this year will feature the world premiere of a musical collaboration by two alumni.

The concert will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the high school auditorium, 70 North Ave.

Tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1. Click here to reserve tickets, with a four-ticket limit per order. There is no charge for tickets, but donations to support Staples music programs are welcome.

A feature of this year’s Candlelight Concert is the premiere of “I Found the Light,” by Staples Class of 2000 alumni, composer Jake Landau and poet Emily Garber. The commissioned work is a first for the program, and after its release will carry the official stamp, “Commissioned by Staples High School, Westport, CT.”

The Staples Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Choral Ensembles will also perform traditional holiday selections, including “Sing We Noel” and the “Hallelujah” chorus.

Other works will include Vaughan Williams’ “Greensleeves Fantasia,” “Ose Shalom” by John Leavitt and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival.”
