WESTPORT — The Sept. 22 meeting of the town’s Tree Board will feature a screening of the documentary, “Call of the Forest,” exploring the history and legacy of ancient forests around the world.
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane. Following a brief business meeting, a free screening of the documentary will take place outdoors. The screening had been scheduled for the board’s Sept. 15 meeting, but was postponed this week till the later date
In case of inclement weather, the program will move indoors.
Subtitled, “The Forgotten Wisdom Of Trees,” the documentary features scientist and author Diana Beresford-Kroeger. It follows her exploration of “our profound biological and spiritual connection to forests … Beresford-Kroeger explores the most beautiful forests in the Northern Hemisphere from the sacred sugi and cedar forests of Japan to the great boreal forest of Canada,” according to promotional materials for the film.
She also “shares the amazing stories behind the history and legacy of these ancient forests while also explaining the science of trees and the irreplaceable roles they play in protecting and feeding the planet.”
