WESTPORT — With its 100th program scheduled at month’s end, a local arts and cultural organization plans both the end of an era and a new chapter.
Beechwood Arts, founded 12 years ago at a historic Weston Road property by pianist Frederic Chiu and artist Jeanine Esposito, will host an Oct. 30 finale described as a “four-ring show.”
With plans to sell the property, the couple will host the event to “celebrate 12 years of community, collaboration and connection through the arts,” as well as to announce a “vision of the next chapter,” according to a Tuesday announcement.
The free event will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Beechwood Arts, 52 Weston Road. People planning to attend should register in advance by clicking here.
Here is a video posted by Chiu and Esposito on YouTube explaining their plans:
Features of the Oct. 30 program will include:
“Ring 1:” A scavenger hunt for 21 tiny paintings done by Beechwood’s artist community, “each representing a surprising secret.” Event planners say the hunt will give participants “an opportunity to see parts of Beechwood never before open to the public.”
“Ring 2:” Videos of past events hosted at Beechwood will be screened, plus piano and stage performances are planned.
“Ring 3:” A tag sale of “vintage collections” from Beechwood, as well as clothing, jewelry and furnishings.
“Ring 4:” Chiu and Esposito will discuss “The Hive” by Beechwood, which they say is their “vision of the next chapter of collaborative partnerships, pop-ups and ideas developed that go out into the community.”
