WESTPORT — Artwork by Kat Evans will be on exhibit during February at the Westport Book Shop.

The colorful works in the “artist of the month” display are described as “collages of painted canvas cutouts affixed to a painted canvas base” in a publicity release from the book shop.

The Evans exhibit is on view during regular business hours through Feb. 28 at the store, 23 Jesup Road.

Evans was inspired by artist Josef Albers and the Color Field Movement, and uses “bold brush strokes and often collage effects” to explore “the interplay of color and texture to evoke an emotional response in each composition,” according to the release.

Her artwork has been shown in juried solo and group exhibitions, and her paintings are in collections throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Mexico.

Evans is a member of the Artists Collective of Westport, the Rowayton Arts Center and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
