WESTPORT — Paintings by Dale Najarian are showcased for the April artist of the month exhibit at the Westport Book Shop.
The abstract paintings will be on display through April 30 during regular business hours at the nonprofit book store, 23 Jesup Road.
Najarian works in several mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, mixed media and oils, and is a photographer as well.
“I am obsessed with shadows and their relationship to light. My work is a translation of everyday scenes and objects using color, light and form,” Najarian said in a statement publicizing the exhibit. “I work from life and in my studio using my photographs as a guide.”
Najarian received a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, and worked for more than 15 years as a graphic designer and art director at design firms and advertising agencies in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
She received the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award from Moore College of Art and Design. She serves on the advisory board for Norwalk Art Space; is an executive board member of the Artists Collective of Westport, and a board member and project manager for #UNLOADusa.org, a nonprofit using arts to focus on gun violence in America.
Najarian’s work can be seen on her website.
