WESTPORT — “4,000 Miles,” a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award-winning comedy/drama, will be staged beginning Aug. 23 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The production will run from Aug. 23 to Sept. 4 at the theater, 25 Powers Court.

It will be performed Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Wednesdays at 2 and 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. (During preview week Aug. 23-26, there are no Wednesday or Saturday matinees.)

For details about tickets and special programs planned in conjunction with the production, check the theater’s “4,000 Miles” webpage.

To promote the play — in which a young cyclist travels cross-country to his grandmother’s home in Greenwich Village — the playhouse will give away a Cannondale Adventure 1 Bike, donated as first prize by Cycleology Bike and Ski of Westport. Second prize is a Cycleology RBX cycling jersey and water bottle.

To be eligible to win, entrants must submit their name, phone number and email either by purchasing a “4,000 Miles” ticket online, by phone or in person anytime up to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, or by filling out an entry form by the same deadline.

No purchase is necessary to win, according to the playhouse announcement. To see all contest rules and other details, click here.

The cast of “4,000 Miles” features Mia Dillon as Vera Joseph, Clay Singer as Leo Joseph-Connell, Lea DiMarchi as Bec and Phoebe Holden as Amanda.

The play, written by Amy Herzog, is the story of a young man’s bicycle trip from the West Coast to the Greenwich Village apartment of his 91-year-old grandmother.

Their interactions result in “conflict on issues of age, family, love, sex, and politics until they discover an emotional connection that gives each a purpose,” according to a publicity release from the playhouse.

The production is being directed by David Kennedy, the playhouse artistic director.
