NORWALK–Lucy Dathan has dropped her primary challenge against Sam Nestor for the Democratic nod for Connecticut’s 26th Senate District.
According to a report by Nancy on Norwalk, Dathan “showed up at Wednesday night’s 142nd District Democratic Town Committee convention [in Norwalk] and walked out as the unanimous nominee for her old House seat.”
Nancy on Norwalk quoted Nathan on her decision to drop out of the state senate race: “When I started assessing my path forward, I realized that in order to be successful, I was going to have to run a campaign that wasn’t me and wasn’t authentic to who I am. . . . I like to be a positive campaigner. I don’t like to play dirty in order to win. That’s not who I like to be. I think we’re better than that. And personally, I just didn’t want to play that game.”
Sam Nestor told Westport Journal, “It is always good news to have Democratic candidates on the ballot, so we can continue the important and rewarding work of learning what voters want and delivering for them in Hartford—in both houses.”
Dathan lost the 26th senate district vote Monday night by a two to one margin.
