NEW HAVEN — Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the stirring scores of classic science fiction films firsthand this weekend, as the New Haven Symphony Orchestra presents two concerts with this theme.
A Galaxy Far, Far Away: Sci-Fi Movie Music in Concert will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25th, at Shelton High School. An additional concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26th, at Woolsey Hall in New Haven.
The performances, under the direction of Music Director Perry So, will feature a live orchestra performing scores from Star Wars, E.T., Interstellar, Dune, Star Trek, and Tron. Audiences are encouraged to wear their favorite sci-fi themed costumes, but should be aware that the concerts do not feature film screenings.
NHSO notes how many local businesses are complementing the concerts with film screenings, themed products, and concert discounts in recognition of NHSO’s “Sci-Fi Month.” These include Best Video Film & Cultural Center in Hamden and Elm City Games, Goodwill of Southern New England, Grails Record Store, and Possible Futures Community Bookspace in New Haven.
