Walk to Raise Health
Walk to Raise Health

WESTPORT—Join lifelong Westporter Dr. Jeanne Capasse as she walks to raise funds at the Northwell Walk to Raise Health at Norwalk

The Sunday, May 17 walk at Norwalk’s Calf Pasture Beach will bring Norwalk Hospital, neighbors, families and local businesses together to support patients, caregivers and lifesaving cancer care at the C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center

The funds raised at the event support five initiatives, according to Dr. Capasse. This support reduces the out-of-pocket expenses facing cancer patients in these areas:

Navigation

A critical step in overcoming a cancer diagnosis is understanding that you are not fighting the disease alone. Each patient is connected to a Northwell navigator as soon as they are diagnosed. The navigator helps the patient every step along their journey, serving as a single point of contact for the patient and their family, providing compassionate support to reduce anxiety, coordinating care and facilitating communication with the medical team.

Trials

Northwell’s doctors have enrolled more than 10,000 patients in more than 200 cutting-edge research trials.

Cold Cap Therapy

Cooling the scalp during chemotherapy can help reduce the effects of hair loss. Though the FDA has approved the use of cold caps, insurance companies do not reimburse patients who sue them.

Transportation

Getting to and from treatment and follow-up appointments can be a burden on many patients.

Integrative Care

In addition to the latest advances in cancer care, Northwell also offers massage therapy and acupuncture.
