WESTPORT–Staples boys tennis had three competitive matches this week, kicking things off with a 4-3 win at Stamford on Monday before losing at Darien on Tuesday and at home to Greenwich on Thursday, both also 4-3 decisions. The Wreckers have a record of 3-3.
In the win over Stamford, Staples got a win at fourth singles by Jack McAuley 6-0, 6-3, and a trio of wins in doubles play. At first doubles, Sebastian Elizondo and Tyler Gorin won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 Jonny Greenspan and Andrew Ridloff also won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 Aaron Fortunoff and Nick Trinchi came out on top 6-1, 6-1.
Against Darien, the top three singles spots were victorious with Elizondo prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, Robert Jacob winning 6-3, 6-2, and Ridloff winning 7-6, 6-3,
In the Greenwich match, Alexos Vergakis won at first singles in come from behind fashion by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and Jacob won at third singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. The top doubles tandem of Kieran Anand and Greenspan won 6-4, 7-5.
