GLASTONBURY–Staples football kicked off the season with a 17-3 win at Glastonbury on Friday night. The Wreckers got rushing touchdowns from Nick Weil and Chaz Darby as well as a 43-yard field goal from Mickey Ross

This is not only the first win of the season, but also the first win for new Head Coach Matty Jacowleff.

Weil completed nine of 21 pass attempts for 70 yards and rushed seven times for 48 yards. Darby carried the ball 18 times for 80 yards. Justin Halky grabbed six receptions totaling 48 yards.

The Wreckers are home for their first FCIAC game when Stamford visits Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
